It's finally getting close to the autumn holidays!<\/p>\n

Did you know that in the past in Sweden, the autumn holidays were called potato holidays - because students were given a week off to help with the potato harvest at home. As agriculture became less important in Sweden, it was then changed to the autumn break which is approaching. Therefore, the autumn holidays are now an opportunity for all children to rest, do fun activities, play and maybe even read books and watch films at home. Compared to the past, autumn holidays are now characterised by the rustling leaves<\/a>, chilly winds, dark evenings and Halloween - and there are lots of fun things to do! That's why we've listed below 7 things to do during the autumn holidays that you as a parent or babysitting<\/a>\u00a0can do together with the children:<\/p>\n

1. Invite your friends to a Halloween party!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Perhaps the most obvious aspect of the autumn holidays is Halloween, when children can dress up as anything they want, eat lots of candy and watch scary movies. Who doesn't like Halloween? A fun activity is to organise a Halloween party, with scary decorations, Halloween candy, spooky music, fun games and then of course trick or treating.<\/p>\n

2. Playing on playhouses<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Maybe the kids have too much energy from staying at home all day? Then you can go to a playhouse to play! Playhouses are a perfect indoor activity for this cold season but are also a lot of fun.<\/p>\n

Autumn break might be an opportunity to do things you didn't have time to do before, such as story time or just reading aloud to the children. Go to the library together (if you don't already have the book you want to read at home). Choose one or more books that the children like and read, read, read! It consists of making a regular bingo card with autumn signs such as cone, yellow leaf, red leaf, stick and more, and then you go out into the woods with the children to search. Bingo!<\/p>\n

A fun activity at home can be making a film - and it doesn't have to be a large-scale project. Dress up as the characters of your choice, decide what you're going to dramatise (or make up) and then film it with your mobile phone.<\/p>\n

6. Bake with troll dough<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Other things to do during the autumn holidays that are fun to do are baking. A simple activity that you can do with children of all ages is magic dough! Make the dough and colour it with caramel paint, then use rolling pins and moulds to create figures. Cozy up at home with popcorn and a movie, or head to the cinema with the kids to watch a new film. A good idea during the holidays is to plan a short trip somewhere.
