School is back in session for all children after Christmas, and it's time to get back into the daily routine.<\/p>\n

It can sometimes be quite a difficult transition for children to go from holidays to regular routines. Remember to be patient! Going back to school can be an adjustment that takes time for your child. It can also be difficult to keep track of everything needed to get ready for the start of school. Therefore, here is a checklist to get ready for the spring term of 2023 that can be useful both for parents and babysitters who help in everyday life.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Morning and evening routines <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    First of all, you should work on your morning routines again. During the Christmas holidays, children may not follow the same sleeping schedule, so it can be difficult to get up in the morning (especially now that it's so dark and cold!). It's a good idea to go to bed a little earlier than usual to unwind, put down the screens, switch off the lights and maybe read a book. Then it's important to get up on time too. One tip is to find fun things to do in the morning to make it easier and more appealing for your child to get up in the morning. Besides, children like routines, so it's important to do the same thing every morning and every evening.<\/p>\n

    1. Breakfast - the most important meal of the day<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Another important point to have in your checklist is to have a proper breakfast. A proper breakfast is the best start to the day in our opinion. Children need energy until lunchtime and therefore need a healthy and energising breakfast. If your child has difficulty eating in the morning, a tip is to send along some snack<\/a> to school, such as fruit, rice cereal, yoghurt or similar. Eating properly and regularly also helps with learning ability.<\/p>\n

      1. Dressing for the weather<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        There is no such thing as bad weather - only bad clothes! Especially now in January with snow, sleet and rain. Children, and especially younger children, go out to play at break time and therefore need proper clothing to keep them warm and dry. Clothing needed can be rainwear, rubber boots, underwear, overtrousers, hats and mittens. It is also a good idea to send some extra clothes in case the ones the child is wearing get wet or dirty during the day.<\/p>\n

        1. Prepare the day before<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          To avoid stressful mornings, make sure to prep as much as possible the day before. For example, laying out the clothes to wear, making sure everything you need is in your backpack, packing your gym bag and maybe even preparing a snack for the day ahead.<\/p>\n

          1. Talk about the school day <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            On the one hand, it can be good to talk before school starts and before the school day, and on the other hand, it can be good to ask how the school day has gone. For example, you can make it a routine to talk to the child about the school day in the evening, to allow the child to process and express all the impressions and feelings that have arisen during the day.<\/p>\n
