There are many factors to consider when matching a family with a nanny – schedules, relevant experience, distance and travel time, common interests, scope, and personal chemistry with both children and parents, to name just a few! Every family has unique needs, and our job is to find the most suitable candidate for each inquiry. We consider many parameters and have matched thousands of families with nannies so far. Here are some tips to help you get a wider selection of nannies and a more accurate match.
Language preferences
The majority of our staff speak both Swedish and English, with some even speaking additional languages! We also have some employees who speak only English—these are typically more experienced, full-time nannies who specialize in working with babies. If you’re looking for daytime/full-time help, we are happy to search widely, regardless of language, to find a candidate with the right experience!
Flexible or fixed arrangements
If you want long-term help, we recommend a fixed arrangement for a better price! Your service is not tied to a particular nanny, so if your needs (times/days) or other factors change, and you need to switch nannies or have the help of another, we will always make arrangements. You can still pause your plan during the summer and Christmas holidays.
Driving licence requirements
Few of our employees have a driving license, but they are very accustomed to using public transport! If possible, we recommend using public transport to take the children home or to training, as this offers a much better chance of a good match. If a car is the only means of transport, you, as a client, will need to provide a car for the nanny to use during the sessions.
Days & times
For pick-up from pre-school we recommend that the sessions start no earlier than 3 p.m., but preferably around 4 p.m., for a better chance of a good match due to a larger selection. If you need help with preschool pick-ups more than three days a week, we recommend using two nannies. Early mornings are difficult to arrange because the shifts are very short.
Older or younger nanny
- what is best for you?
When looking for a babysitter for you and your child, we always consider several factors to find the best match. One factor you will need to decide on is whether you prefer a younger or older babysitter. Both options have their advantages, and here we will briefly explain what they are, so you can make an informed decision and be matched with the perfect babysitter for your family. Our babysitters, regardless of age, are always carefully selected and trained in child safety and CPR.
Younger nanny. If you need help with babysitting in the afternoons, evenings, or weekends a couple of days a week, we recommend choosing a younger nanny. This is because younger nannies are often still studying (ambitious top students) and see babysitting as the perfect side job, where they can pick up from preschool, cook snacks, play, and help with bedtime.
Older nanny. If you need help with daytime childcare, more or less every day, we recommend choosing an older nanny. This is because our older nannies have graduated and are available for daytime work. An older nanny will typically want to work full-time and may prioritize smaller jobs (less than 30 hours a week).
