How do you find joy in reading? Do you need to be homework helper to trigger the joy of reading? For those who want to see their world with new eyes and tickle their curiosity, all they need to do is pick up the book from the bookshelf and get started.
Easier said than done and resistance to reading is something many people recognise. But for those who do start reading, a world of fantastic and exciting stories opens up. It's just a matter of finding the joy of reading, something you and your nanny can do together.
Reading should not feel hard, boring or demanding. Reading should be like diving into an adventure and not wanting to stop. But first, it's about finding books that you enjoy. Some books suit you, others don't. Just like shoes and clothes, people have different tastes in reading, you can't like everything, you have to try it out! Sometimes it can be helpful to read together with the babysitter and thus share the desire to read. One way to do this is through reading aloud, where both take part in the book's adventure.
One person who has found the joy of reading and helps others to find it is the children's author Emi Gunér. She wrote her first children's book over 10 years ago and has since written eight books. For her, the important thing is not to force oneself to read but to let oneself be led into the world of books and let reading feel pleasurable.
"As long as reading is enjoyable and rewarding, I believe it is a tool that can be used to satisfy or stimulate curiosity. Then it can strengthen the child's self-confidence and joy of learning," says Emi Guner.
