Say Hey to iPal nanny
Would you let a nanny robot take care of your toddler for several hours a day? Avatarmind, with offices in China and Silicon Valley, designed iPal to be a "friendly companion to play with and talk to naturally". The Nanny Robot can dance, tell stories, play games and much more. It is simply an intelligent computer-based babysitter and full-time companion for your child. It is also fully self-learning, remembering your child's preferences and interests and using that to make conversations with them more relevant. Of course, it is also connected to the cloud so it can download new knowledge to share with your child.
As the marketing manager of Hey Kiddo Nanny, I feel both fascination and fear about this kind of invention. It's really cool with all the features but will a robot ever be programmed to have empathy? And will it be possible in the foreseeable future to install the moral compass needed to make difficult trade-offs? Doubtful. I don't think any of us at Hey Kiddo Nanny will be losing our jobs anytime soon because of iPal's nanny robot. But I don't doubt for a second that it can be a fun and benevolent companion to the kids.
The price for a brand new iPal at the time of writing is 4100 USD. But if you wait until Black Friday, you might be able to get a bargain. Until then, I can recommend our fantastic analogue babysitters.
