Ice cream in bulk
Summer is here and many people have finally gone on a long-awaited summer holiday. On a hot summer's day, there is nothing better than an ice-cold ice-cream, and it will be even more appreciated if you have made it yourself. In this article, you'll find some simple recipes and ice cream ideas for all the sunny days of summer. Preparing ice cream is a super fun activity to do with the kids, and then it's just as fun to eat it too.
Preparations
For most ice creams, in addition to the various ingredients, some type of ice cream mould and ice cream sticks are needed. At this time of year, these can be bought relatively cheaply in most homeware shops and sometimes even in some supermarkets.
Single ice cream
A simple popsicle can easily be made by pouring the juice of your choice into the ice cream moulds and freezing them. Really super simple! Regular mixed juice works great, but if you want to make it a little more fancy, you can make your own juice from any fruit or berry.
Smoothie glass
Smoothies are the perfect snack that can also be served in ice-cream form. A nanny classic. A yummy tip is to blend banana and frozen mango with a little coconut milk, but of course you can make your smoothie based on flavours and ingredients that you prefer. The blended smoothie is then poured into ice cream moulds, which are then frozen in the same way as if you were making regular ice cream. Delicious, fun and healthy too!
Frozen fruit pops
Perhaps the simplest ice cream can be made by freezing pure fruit. Watermelon, kiwi, banana and pineapple are examples of good fruits that are suitable for making frozen fruit pops. Cut the fruit open, make a small incision, insert a popsicle stick, and finally freeze the fruit in the freezer. It's as easy as that! If you want to make it a little more advanced, you can also melt chocolate to dip the fruit in, and you can then also roll the fruit in coconut flakes, sprinkles or chopped nuts, for example. To avoid a lot of mess in the freezer, one tip is to place your chocolate-dipped ice creams on a tray with baking paper before putting them in the freezer.
Hope you got some inspiration for a fun and summery kitchen activity. Now make sure to treat your kids to lots of ice cream this summer!
