Christmas holidays are coming soon! It's always nice to have a break from everyday life, and Christmas is a particularly nice and cosy time. But what to do during all this time? Here are 7 tips for activities you can do with your nanny during the Christmas holidays:
Children are given time off from nursery and school, and unless you have planned to travel during the holidays, the whole family is home together for two weeks. Children need a lot of stimulation and when school is out they need to release their energy in other ways. Take the opportunity to try something new during the Christmas holidays! It could be breaking in your ice skates, learning a new recipe or going to a museum.
Activities during the Christmas holidays
1. ice skating
A classic winter activity is of course ice skating. It's both a fun and sporty activity, as you can compete to be the fastest, play hockey or leakage games on the ice. One tip is to go ice skating in the beautiful Kungsträdgården, otherwise you can of course go to the nearest skating centre.
2. go to the cinema
When it's cold outside, it's always nice to watch a film. Take that extra step and go see a film on the big screen. There's always a child-friendly film playing in the cinema. Tip. Pop your own popcorn at home and buy soft drinks at the supermarket to save a few hundred bucks.
3. Christmas baking
Baking is a fun activity at home, and during the festive season it's all about Christmas baking. Looking for recipes for easy Christmas treats? Check out Hey Kiddo's child-friendly recipes here.
4. Sledging
Another winter activity to get the kids involved. However, it requires that the weather allows and that there is snow to ride on! There are many sledding hills in Stockholm to go to, for example in Vasa Park, Kronobergsparken and Skånegläntan.
5. Go to a museum
Going to a museum is a fun and educational experience. There are many museums in Stockholm, many of which have free admission for children. Museums that can be interesting for the whole family include the Natural History Museum, the History Museum or the Vasa Museum.
6. Go to the Christmas market in Gamla Stan
Did you know that the Christmas market in Gamla Stan dates back to the Middle Ages and is Sweden's oldest Christmas market? Until 23 December, you can visit the Christmas market in Stortorget and really get into the Christmas spirit.
7. make Christmas cards
Stay at home and do some Christmas crafts, which is always fun. Make Christmas cards with the kids and send them to family and friends to wish them a Merry Christmas!
