7 easy autumn leaf crafts for kids

simple crafts with autumn leaves

September is here, which means the beautiful colours of autumn are coming out. Maybe the leaves have already started falling from the trees in your garden or park? Here are several simple crafts with autumn leaves for all those cosy autumn days.

Autumn leaves can be found in many different and beautiful colours; red, yellow, orange, brown and so on. This makes them not only beautiful but also a perfect crafting material. Crafting with autumn leaves is a fun and creative activity that you can do with your children or that your children can do with their babysitting during this autumn.

How to make autumn crafts?

The first thing to do, of course, is to go out and collect materials with the children. You can go out to the garden if you have one, otherwise to a nearby park or forest. Not only is it fun to run outside in the fresh air and collect leaves, but it's also good for the children's health as you might not get as much outdoor activity when the weather gets colder. If you want to supplement, you can buy fabric online or buy crafts online. Remember to only collect things that are already on the ground, and not pick directly from the trees! Below are 7 simple crafts with autumn leaves that you can do with the kids:

Autumn wreath1. Autumn wreath

Perhaps the most obvious thing you can do is make a pretty autumn wreath to hang on your front door. All you need to make such a wreath is cardboard cut into a ring of any size, glue sticks and autumn leaves in many different colours. You can also add glitter or other decorations if you like. Then just glue the leaves to the cardboard and you're done. It's easy to do, and you get a great result that the kids will be happy with!

Some other simple crafts you can make with autumn leaves are leaf men or ghosts. For the ghosts, all you need is a black marker and doll's eyes if you have them, and then just draw a face on the leaves. For the ghosts, you'll need white paint to make the autumn leaves completely white, then a black marker to draw the eyes and mouth. It's a very simple craft that's perfect for the little ones!

3. press with leaves

Make paintings with a guaranteed beautiful result by colouring autumn leaves and then printing them on paper or canvas. Use autumn leaves of different sizes, shapes and colours. Remember to paint the leaves very thinly, and try pressing them onto a piece of scrap paper before starting the painting.

4. trees

Another creative task is deciduous trees. For this you need paint, paper and glue. First, you create the tree trunk by painting your hand and printing it on the paper. If you want to fill in the trunk with colour, you can do so. Wait for the trunk to dry before you start gluing on the leaves. You can also paint the trunk freehand.

hedgehog leaves

5. Nice hedgehog

You can also make beautiful animals with autumn leaves. To make a hedgehog, you first need to paint a little face with a nose on a piece of paper (an adult can help with this), and then you start gluing the leaves to create the body. See the picture below.

Another tip is to make a nice autumn fairy. You'll need either an ice-cream stick or a barbecue stick, autumn leaves, doll's eyes, a piece of paper cut into a circle and glue. Start by making the fairy's wings with the leaves by gluing them to the stick. Use the stems of the leaves to make antennae. Glue the paper where the face should be and glue on or draw the eyes.

lion law

7. Beautiful lion

Create a super simple lion head with beautiful yellow and orange autumn leaves! All you have to do is draw a lion face on a piece of paper, and then glue the leaves around it to create a fancy lion man. You can also draw a face and glue it on afterwards.
