Reading is both fun and educational! Books can take you to the ends of the earth; books can create a whole new world for readers to explore.
For children, reading books is particularly important, both for entertainment and for learning and improving language skills. Now that winter is in full swing, and it's cold and dark outside, reading books is a perfect after-school or holiday activity. That's why at Hey Kiddo we've come up with book suggestions for children of all ages. For younger children, it might be easier to read books together with babysitting or family, for example through reading aloud, and older children may prefer to read on their own. Reading books is also a good indoor activity for children during the Christmas holidays, and speaking of Christmas, children's books are a great gift idea!
Giving a really good book as a gift can be an effective way to encourage children to start reading more. There are plenty of engaging, adventurous and fun children's books to choose from.
